IWishU User Manual

Everything the app can do, in the order you will need it. The same manual is available inside IWishU, from the menu (⋮) at the top right of the Groups screen.

1. Initial Setup

Global Directory

The contacts you add live in the app's Global Directory, separate from your phone's contacts. From there you assign each person to one or more groups, so the same contact can belong to several groups without being duplicated.

Groups

Create your groups for mass messaging and choose the default sending channel for each: WhatsApp, Telegram or SMS.

Custom Fields

Create your own labels and attach them to groups - $Children, $Spouse, $Title, $Company. They become the variables you use when writing messages.

Adding Contacts

Pick contacts from your phonebook, one at a time, into your Global Directory.

Importing Contacts in BulkPro

Two ways to add many contacts at once instead of one at a time: straight from your phone's address book, or from a CSV file.

From your phone's address book. Select several contacts from your phone and assign them to one or more groups (even created on the spot) in a single tap. Contacts already in the app are flagged and cannot be selected.

2. Messages and Variables

Write the message once and let the app personalise it for each recipient.

Basic use

Text inside square brackets is included only if the variable inside it is filled for that particular contact. This is what stops a message reading "say hi to " with nothing after it.

List several fields separated by | and the app uses the first one that is filled, reading left to right. The last option can be fixed text in quotes, so there is always something to fall back on.

Different Channel for a Single Contact

A group has a default channel, but you can pick an exception for one person from their contact card - handy for someone who only uses SMS inside a WhatsApp group. A coloured icon flags contacts with an exception, both in the Global Directory and inside the group view.

3. Mass Sending

The heart of the app: compose one message, and IWishU opens WhatsApp, Telegram or SMS pre-filled for each selected contact, one after another. You press send in person for each one - the app never sends on its own.

Faster sending with split screen (optional)

Included in the free plan. If your phone supports it, you can keep IWishU in one half of the screen and WhatsApp, Telegram or the SMS app in the other. IWishU shows only the card for the next contact and opens each chat in the half beside it: each contact takes two taps, Send in the chat and Sent, next in IWishU, with no need to go back with the Back button.

The app does not turn split screen on by itself: you do it from the system, usually by opening the recent apps list, tapping the IWishU icon and choosing the split-screen option (the name varies by brand). You can then drag the divider to give the chat more room. Even so, sending stays in your hands: you press Send for every message.

Scheduled SendingPro

Prepare the message now and pick the time you want to be reminded to complete it. It stays a reminder, never an automatic send: when it's time, you just get a notification that reopens the mass send already set up. The "Scheduled Sends" screen lets you see or cancel any pending send.

4. Multicultural CalendarsPro

The app filters the important dates for you and warns you in advance, without cluttering your phonebook.

• One religious calendar per group, plus the International one. The limit is deliberate: a contact belongs to one tradition, and wishing them both Christmas and Eid would mean writing on the wrong day for one of the two. Choose a second religious calendar and the first is replaced.
• Advance notice from 1 to 7 days, set in Calendar Settings.
• Dates you can trust. Lunar festivities such as Eid or Diwali are only certain days ahead and can shift by country. The app marks those as still to be confirmed instead of presenting them as final.
• Your dates. Valentine's Day, Workers' Day, Mother's Day and Father's Day fall on different days around the world, so you set them yourself. Mother's and Father's Day have no default at all: until you set them they are not shown, because a plausible but wrong date would be worse than none.
• No duplicate wishes. If the same person appears in several groups of the same calendar, the app tells you, so you contact them once.

Create Your Own Custom CalendarsPro

Beyond the built-in calendars, you can create your own - family birthdays, company anniversaries, any occasion no standard calendar knows about. Each custom calendar can hold several dates, each either recurring every year or a one-off, and it links to groups alongside a religious calendar without replacing it.

Birthday & Anniversary RemindersPro

Set a birthday or anniversary date for any contact - free for everyone - and let IWishU Pro alert you as it approaches, with the message already drafted and ready to send. Unlike calendars, this date belongs to the individual person, not the group.

5. Message TemplatesPro

Do not type the same text every time. Save your best messages as templates and load them instantly while composing a mass send. Templates keep their variables, so a saved message stays personalised for whoever you send it to next.

6. App Personalisation

From the menu (⋮) → Personalisation you can make the app yours:

These are separate purchases, independent from the Pro subscription - you can buy just one. A bundle with all three is available at a lower price.

7. Backup and Restore

• Export Backup (menu ⋮) saves groups, contacts, custom fields, message templates and custom calendars into a single file.
• Import Backup restores them.

Always export a backup before uninstalling the app or changing phone. Nothing is stored anywhere else, so an uninstall without a backup means starting over.
