IWishU User Manual

Everything the app can do, in the order you will need it. The same manual is available inside IWishU, from the menu (⋮) at the top right of the Groups screen.

1. Initial Setup

Global Directory

The contacts you add live in the app's Global Directory, separate from your phone's contacts. From there you assign each person to one or more groups, so the same contact can belong to several groups without being duplicated.

Groups

Create your groups for mass messaging and choose the default sending channel for each: WhatsApp, Telegram or SMS.

Custom Fields

Create your own labels and attach them to groups - $Children, $Spouse, $Title, $Company. They become the variables you use when writing messages.

Pick contacts from your phonebook, or import them in bulk from a CSV file.Pro

2. Messages and Variables

Write the message once and let the app personalise it for each recipient.

Text inside square brackets is included only if the variable inside it is filled for that particular contact. This is what stops a message reading "say hi to " with nothing after it.

List several fields separated by | and the app uses the first one that is filled, reading left to right. The last option can be fixed text in quotes, so there is always something to fall back on.

3. Multicultural CalendarsPro

The app filters the important dates for you and warns you in advance, without cluttering your phonebook.

• One religious calendar per group, plus the International one. The limit is deliberate: a contact belongs to one tradition, and wishing them both Christmas and Eid would mean writing on the wrong day for one of the two. Choose a second religious calendar and the first is replaced.
• Advance notice from 1 to 7 days, set in Calendar Settings.
• Dates you can trust. Lunar festivities such as Eid or Diwali are only certain days ahead and can shift by country. The app marks those as still to be confirmed instead of presenting them as final.
• Your dates. Valentine's Day, Workers' Day, Mother's Day and Father's Day fall on different days around the world, so you set them yourself. Mother's and Father's Day have no default at all: until you set them they are not shown, because a plausible but wrong date would be worse than none.
• No duplicate wishes. If the same person appears in several groups of the same calendar, the app tells you, so you contact them once.

4. Message TemplatesPro

Do not type the same text every time. Save your best messages as templates and load them instantly while composing a mass send. Templates keep their variables, so a saved message stays personalised for whoever you send it to next.

5. App Personalisation

From the menu (⋮) → Personalisation you can make the app yours:

These are separate purchases, independent from the Pro subscription - you can buy just one. A bundle with all three is available at a lower price.

6. Backup and Restore

• Export Backup (menu ⋮) saves groups, contacts, custom fields and message templates into a single file.
• Import Backup restores them.

Always export a backup before uninstalling the app or changing phone. Nothing is stored anywhere else, so an uninstall without a backup means starting over.
